Hello Reader,Each week, I share one insight, one prompt, and a short grounding practice to help you grow with AI in alignment, not overwhelm. This is for conscious entrepreneurs who value substance over shortcuts. AI Insight That Matters 💡Your AI Is Brilliant at the Wrong ThingEarlier this week, I was deep in a research session with Claude. I was following a thread about first principles thinking: the practice of stripping away every assumption until you reach the handful of things you know to be irreducibly true, then building from there. The concept goes back thousands of years. Philosophers have returned to it across every tradition and every century. But what clicked for me that morning was something modern. AI is extraordinary at one specific thing: pattern matching. It has absorbed billions of words and can synthesise every strategy, framework, and business model ever published. Ask it for an onboarding sequence, and it pulls together the best of what has been tried before. Ask for a marketing plan, and it remixes what worked for a thousand other businesses. Fast. Borrowed. This may have worked for someone else in a situation similar to yours. Useful. But not truth. It is secondhand. First principles thinking is the opposite move. Strip away the borrowed patterns. Ask: What do I know to be true from my own direct experience? Not what the industry does. Not what the course taught me. What have I learned through my own work, my own clients, my own life, that I would stake my name on? That single question changes how you use AI. When your first move is a prompt, you start with something that isn't Yours. You ask the machine to pattern-match for you. When your first move is a clear statement of what you know to be true, your values, your hard-won lessons, the thing you would tell your best friend over coffee, you give AI bedrock to build on. Not patterns to remix. Not someone else's strategy with your name on it. Your truth, amplified. This is the essence of human-first AI. The difference shows in the output. AI building on borrowed patterns sounds like everyone else. AI building on your truth sounds like you at your best. The machine brings the patterns. You bring the truth. That is the partnership. AI Prompt That Works ✨The Bedrock InterviewBefore your next strategy session or big decision, run this first. Ten minutes. It changes everything that comes after. The Prompt: I'm working on [describe your challenge or decision].
Before we explore solutions, help me find my bedrock: the things I know to be true from direct experience, not theory or convention.
Interview me. One question at a time. Help me separate:- What I know because I lived it- What I believe because someone taught me- What I assume because "that's how it's done"
After 8-10 questions, write a short First Principles Brief: 3-5 irreducible truths that should anchor everything we build together.
Then use those truths as the foundation for helping me with my challenge. Build on my bedrock, not industry best practice. Most people discover that more than half their "strategy" is borrowed from convention. The truths that remain are simpler, more honest, and entirely theirs. That is the foundation AI should be building on. Try it before your next planning session or client strategy call. Grounding Practice ☯The Bedrock MinuteSet a timer for sixty seconds. Close your eyes. Name one thing you know to be true about your work. Not because a book said so. Not because a mentor told you. Not because the market confirmed it. Because you lived it. Hold that one truth. Notice where you feel it. Borrowed knowledge tends to sit in the head, a thought about a thought. Lived truth lands deeper. Chest. Gut. Bones. That felt difference is real. It is the difference between building on sand and building on rock. When the timer ends, write down the truth. One sentence. Put it somewhere you will see it this week. Personal Note ❤️🔥"Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."
— Lao Tzu
This week, my Masterclass series relaunched. The Build Sprint runs today. I have a welcome video I still have not recorded, a form due in four days, and a platform migration three weeks deep that is nowhere near finished. If you asked how I am doing, the honest answer is: behind. On everything, simultaneously. I suspect you know the feeling. AI moves so fast. Every week brings new tools, new capabilities, new things you feel like you should already understand. The gap between where you are and where you think you should be widens every day. The faster you move, the more behind you feel. I keep returning to Lao Tzu this week. Nature does not hurry. An oak does not look at the birch and feel behind. The first principles work I wrote about today connects to this. Strip away what the market says you should be doing. Strip away the pace someone else is setting. Find the few things you know to be true, and grow from those. I am learning that "behind" is almost always a borrowed measurement. When I stop comparing and measuring against my own ground, the picture changes. Slower, maybe. But mine. I am sitting with that line this week. Not quite believing it yet. But sitting with it. 🎬 Go DeeperLatest from the blog: What Happens When Your Thinking System Thinks for Itself What happens when you build a home for your thinking, and it starts maintaining itself.
