The coach who forgot how to be human

Hello Reader,

Each week, I share one insight, one prompt, and a short grounding practice to help you grow with AI in alignment, not overwhelm.

This is for conscious entrepreneurs who value substance over shortcuts.

AI Insight That Matters 💡

The Presence Paradox

Speaking at the ICF South Florida Fall Summit recently, I watched something profound happen.

I saw eyes light up as a room full of master coaches discovered they'd been using AI backwards.

Most were using it regularly to do more, but they hadn't discovered its real power. I showed them how to use AI to see more. More patterns, more truth, more of themselves.

Here's what I realized, we're asking the wrong question about AI. We keep asking "What can AI do for me?" when we should be asking "What can AI reveal about me?"

The paradox is this, the more we use AI just to increase our doing, the less present we become. But when we use AI to increase our seeing, we expand consciousness itself.

Most people use AI as a production tool. They haven't discovered it as a perception tool.

Think about your own patterns. You probably use AI to write emails, create content, solve problems. Transactional exchanges. Input-output. But when did you last use AI to see your own blind spots? To surface the patterns you can't see alone? To mirror back the edges of your awareness?

We're protecting ourselves from AI's deepest gift, its ability to show us ourselves. We'll let it handle our tasks but not our transformation. We'll let it expand our capability but not our consciousness.

The breakthrough isn't learning to prompt better. It's learning to see better and letting AI show you what you're not seeing. Use the phrase "what am I missing?" in your next chat or try the prompt below and watch what happens.

AI Prompt That Works ✨

The Projection Mirror Prompt

When to use: After any interaction that stays with you or triggers something unexpected.

The Prompt:

Something from today's interaction is still with me. I want to use this for my own growth.
What happened: [Describe the moment - what was said/done, what you felt, how you responded, what felt charged or unclear]
Be my development mirror:
1. What in ME got activated? (My own wound, fear, desire, or edge)
2. Where might I be projecting my own stuff onto this situation?
3. What am I avoiding seeing in my own life that showed up here?
4. What capacity do I need to develop to hold this with more clarity?
5. One practice to expand my range
Show me the truth about myself so I can serve from a clearer place.

How to use it: Be ruthlessly honest about what you felt, including the uncomfortable parts. Include any judgment, irritation, or anxiety you experienced. The discomfort signals your growth edge.

What to expect: AI will mirror back patterns you couldn't see alone, revealing where your own unresolved material is driving your responses.

Grounding Practice ☯

The Clearing Practice

Before your next important conversation or meeting, try this 60-second nervous system reset:

  1. Acknowledge (10 seconds): Place your hand on your heart. Say silently: "I notice I'm holding [name what you're carrying]."
  2. Release (20 seconds): Take three breaths, making the exhale twice as long as the inhale. With each exhale, imagine releasing one layer of mental noise.
  3. Ground (20 seconds): Feel your feet on the floor. Notice three physical sensations in your body right now. Just notice, don't judge.
  4. Intention (10 seconds): Complete this sentence: "I'm available to..."

Notice how your presence shifts when you stop trying to hold everything and start trusting that what matters will remain.

Personal Note ❤️‍🔥

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." - Albert Camus

The coaches at ICF weren't afraid of AI. They were already using it. But when I showed them how AI could reveal their patterns, their projections, their edges, the energy in the room transformed. One coach told me afterward: "I realized I've been using AI to do more, but not to see more."

This is what I'm discovering as I prepare something special with the team at Coaching.com (more on this next week, it's going to shift how we think about AI in transformational work). There's a big difference between using AI for productivity and using it for consciousness expansion. To think bigger and better.

I used to think AI adoption was about overcoming resistance. Now I see it's about deepening relationship. Not just learning what AI can do, but discovering what AI can reveal.

The question isn't whether you're ready for AI. You're already using it. The question is whether you're ready to let AI show you yourself.

Are you ready to go there?
